Strong, Rich, and On the Rise

Economic growth is surging. Global manufacturers are moving in. Billions are flowing into the economy. As Vietnam strengthens its position on the world stage, one question deserves attention: could its property market be the next big opportunity for international investors?

Vietnam is having a moment and the numbers are hard to ignore.

The country recorded 8.02% GDP growth in 2025, followed by reported growth of 8.18% in the first half of 2026. Emerging as a global top-tier leader in economic acceleration and export momentum, Vietnam is attracting foreign investment, expanding its manufacturing base and strengthening its role in global supply chains. As businesses diversify beyond China, the country is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for international companies.

For property investors, the question is where to position themselves to benefit from this growth. One place stands out: Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), Vietnam’s commercial powerhouse and a key gateway to its expanding economy.

Why Global Businesses Are Betting on Vietnam

Vietnam’s strategic location, growing industrial ecosystem and network of 17 free trade agreements covering more than 60 countries connect businesses to international markets. The country attracted more than US$40 billion in registered foreign direct investment in 2025, according to the figures supplied for this article, reflecting its growing appeal as a manufacturing and regional business hub.

For property investors, the implications extend beyond factories and investment announcements. Business expansion creates jobs, attracting professionals, skilled workers and expatriates who need places to live. This creates potential residential demand in locations supported by employment growth, infrastructure and everyday amenities.

HCMC: Where Economic Momentum Meets Property Potential

As Vietnam’s commercial and economic centre, HCMC is a natural starting point for investors exploring the country. Its commercial districts, employment centres and industrial zones create opportunities across residential and commercial property as the wider economy develops. The property market is already showing significant momentum. HCMC property prices reportedly rose by 23% in 2025, while prices have increased by approximately 120% over the past decade. These figures highlight the market’s longer-term growth trajectory and the growing attention Vietnam’s commercial hub is attracting.

The city’s investment landscape has also expanded. Following Vietnam’s 2025 administrative reorganisation, HCMC now incorporates the former provinces of Binh Duong and Ba Ria–Vung Tau, bringing a broader industrial and economic base within its boundaries. For investors, this means looking beyond established central districts. Emerging areas connected to manufacturing, logistics and expanding employment centres could also benefit from the city’s growth, offering different entry points into the wider HCMC property market.

Infrastructure Could Shape the Next Chapter

Vietnam’s growth story is also supported by major infrastructure ambitions. One development to watch is Long Thanh International Airport, designed to strengthen the country’s international aviation capacity and support the movement of people and goods. Its phased development could enhance connectivity for southern Vietnam, complementing HCMC’s role as a regional business hub.

Meanwhile, proposed metro expansion plans targeting connections towards Di An and Thu Dau Mot could improve links between established employment centres and surrounding residential areas. If implemented as planned, better connectivity may make more locations attractive to residents and businesses alike. Infrastructure does not automatically translate into property appreciation. However, when improved accessibility coincides with job creation and genuine housing demand, it can strengthen a location’s long-term investment case.

The Bigger Picture: Why Vietnam Deserves a Closer Look

Vietnam offers investors a compelling combination of economic growth, international investment and expanding infrastructure. HCMC brings these forces together, offering access to the country’s commercial core and a wider region with diverse property opportunities.

Vietnam is building economic momentum. HCMC is where much of that story comes together. The opportunity now is to identify the locations best positioned to benefit as the market evolves.
